The season will kick off on Sept. 16 with the world premiere of In Your Arms, a dance-musical event led by Newsies director/choreographer Christopher Gattelli in collaboration with Ragtime composer Stephen Flaherty. On Sept. 26 Oscar and Tony winner Mercedes Ruehl (Lost in Yonkers) will once again dazzle in Full Gallop, the one-woman-show based on the life of fashion empress Diana Vreeland.

Next, David Ives partners with director Michael Kahn for his "translaptation" of a classic french farce, The Metromaniacs. The show, set in 18th century Paris will have its West Coast premiere at the Old Globe beginning Jan. 30, 2016. It is followed by the world premiere of Anna Ziegler's The Last Match which was developed at the theatre's New Voices festival in 2014 and will be directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch.

March will see the world premiere of the new Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party, Giant) and Sybille Pearson (Giant) musical Rain, helmed by artistic director Barry Edelstein. Based on a short story by Somerset Maugham, the story follows a group of travelers who find themselves together on a tropical South Pacific island and whose lives are unexpectedly turned upside down. Spring will also see the staging of Constellations, the acclaimed Broadway hit ny Nick Payne that blends love, physics and destiny.

Pulitzer winner Lawrence Wright's new play Camp David, about a historical moment in 1978 involving the world's leaders in the Middle East, will be directed by Molly Smith and is set to begin May 13. Later in the month, Kimber Lee's new play Tokyo Fish Story, about a master sushi chef who must make way for a new generation, will begin peformances. Lee's play Brownsville song (b-side for tray) recently premiered Off-Broadway.

The theatre will also present Much Ado About Nothing through its Globe for All program, bringing a free touring production of Shakespeare to the San Diego community in November. "[These] productions range across a wide variety of theatrical styles to tell captivating and exciting stories: stories that are moving, amusing, and entertaining; stories that are about the simplest truths and the biggest themes," said Edelstein in a press statement. "They showcase the talents of American stage artists whose excellence dazzles. When I look through the list of names coming to share their artistry with San Diego’s wonderful audiences, I can’t help but smile. In musical theatre, comedy, drama, and dance, on the contemporary stage and the classical, these are quite simply the best we have."
