Director-actor David Cromer is taking a hiatus to honor a regional directing commitment. He's staging Aaron Sorkin's The Farnsworth Invention at Alley Theatre in Houston.

Parkinson steps into the Barrow Street Theatre production May 1. Obie Award winner Cromer departs the company for a five-week hiatus; he'll return in mid-June.

The current cast at The Barrow Street Theatre features (in alphabetical order) Jeremy Beiler as Sam Craig, Rob Beitzel as Howie Newsome, Kati Brazda as Mrs. Webb, George Demas as Constable Warren, Donna Jay Fulks as Mrs. Soames, Jennifer Grace as Emily, Wilbur Edwin Henry as Professor Willard, Adam Hinkle as Joe Crowell, Ronete Levenson as Rebecca Gibbs, James McMenamin as George, Ken Marks as Editor Webb, Jonathan Mastro as Simon Stimson, Seamus Mulcahy as Wally Webb, Lori Myers as Mrs. Gibbs, Jay Russell as Joe Stoddard, Jeff Still as Doc Gibbs, Jason Yachanin as Si Crowell, and David Cromer as the Stage Manager.

Cromer's critically acclaimed staging of Our Town began performances in Greenwich Village Feb. 17 and opened to enthusiastic reviews on Feb. 26 at the Barrow Street venue, whose space has been completely redesigned for this production. The production has its roots in a 2008 Chicago staging by Cromer, who directed last season's praised Off-Broadway musical, Adding Machine. The director will make his Broadway directing debut in the fall with Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound.

Our Town is produced by Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, Ted Snowdon, Eagle Productions, Dena Hammerstein/Pam Pariseau, The Weinstein Company, and Burnt Umber Productions. Parkinson's credits include Off-Broadway's Rose Rage; The Third Story (MCC); Crime & Punishment (59E59). Regionally, he's appeared at Shakespeare Theatre; Old Globe; La Jolla Playhouse; Mark Taper Forum; Chicago: Chicago Shakespeare; Goodman; Writers'; Court; Northlight.

Student tickets at $20 are available on the day of performance only at the box office.
