Hanke, according to a spokesperson for the actor, will play the role of Ryan Romero, "a newly hired transplant coordinator for Three Rivers Medical Center who happens to have no medical experience whatsoever and was formerly a radio news reporter." Curtis Hanson, who with Brian Helgeland won an Academy Award for the screenplay for "L.A. Confidential," will executive produce the one-hour drama, which concerns a team of doctors at a Pittsburgh hospital who have to race against the clock in order to secure donor organs for their patients.

Hanson will executive produce the pilot with creator Carol Barbee and executive producers Ted Gold and Carol Fenelon. An air date has yet to be announced.

Hanke, who was recently seen in the Public's presentation of Hair at the Delacorte, has appeared in the Broadway musicals Cry-Baby, Rent and In My Life. His national touring credits include Big River, the Full Monty and Fame. Hanke has been seen on screen in "Clear Blue Tuesday," "Killing the Badge," "A Children's Miracle," "Marsh" and "Sam Sung."
