Performances begin September 29 for the Off-Broadway premiere of Marshall Goldberg's Daddy Issues, which had a successful showcase earlier this year. Presented by David Goldyn Productions and directed by David Goldyn, the show makes its debut at Theatre at St. Clement's.

In the new comedy, a gay man tries to appease his parents by hiring his ten-year-old neighbor to play his son. The production stars Kate Katcher, Deb Armelino, Alex Ammerman, Matt Koplik, Shua Potter, Elizabeth Klein, Allyson Haley and Tony Rossi.

The limited Off-Broadway engagement will officially open October 6 with performances slated to run through November 7.

“It is 1982 and Donald Moscowitz has overbearing parents,” state press notes. “They disapprove of his choice of profession (actor), his flair for decorating (pastels) and his lifestyle (homosexual). The one thing that would make them happy is a grandchild. His solution: hire the ten-year old kid downstairs to play his son. What could possibly go wrong?”

The show features a set by Kevin Klakouski, costumes by Antonio Consuegra, lighting by Mitchell Ost, general management by 22Q Entertainment and stage management by Jennifer Cooper. Casting is by Sara Koch Casting.

Goldberg's full-length plays include The Manufacturer's Daughter and The Feuding Paleontologists.
