The July 10 issue of the trade publication will feature a spotlight on the award-winning composer and lyricist. According to a Variety blurb, "We'll look at a career that spans almost three decades and includes Emmy, Grammy and Tony wins along with 5 Oscar Nominations."

Theatre audiences know Shaiman for his Tony Award-winning score to Broadway's Hairspray as well as his recent turn in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me — for which he also provided music, lyrics and arrangements. The film version of the musical Hairspray — with added songs he and Scott Wittman penned — hits theatres July 20 with a soundtrack due in stores July 10.

The New Jersey native has likely made more of his billion-dollar bank roll with his work in film providing the scores, original music and/or songs to such features as "Sleepless in Seattle," "A Few Good Men," "City Slickers," "The American President," "The First Wives Club," "Misery," "Sister Act," "In & Out," "Simon Birch," "Patch Adams" and "Down With Love" — the latter of which he appears, ever so briefly, over the final credits.

His resume has also included work on "Saturday Night Live," Academy Awards telecasts, "South Park" and Bette Midler's stage shows. He is currently at work on a musical version of the film "Catch Me If You Can."
