News Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Renamed; Touring Season Announced The Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, which will be the largest arts complex outside of Manhattan's Lincoln Center, has already undergone a name change prior to its official opening.

The complex will now be titled the AT&T Performing Arts Center thanks to an annual sponsorship agreement with the communications giant. The opening celebration of the AT&T PAC will begin Oct. 12.

Five companies will be in residence at the center, including the Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Opera, Texas Ballet Theater, Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico. The venues include the Winspear Opera House, the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, Annette Strauss Artist Square, City Performance Hall, as well as the ten-acre Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park, which unites the venues.

The touring season at the Winspear will include South Pacific (Dec. 15-Jan. 3, 2010); August: Osage County (Jan. 12-24, 2010); Spring Awakening (March 23-April 4, 2010); and Avenue Q (May 25-June 6, 2010).

Additional performances include Steve Martin (Oct. 27); Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays (Nov. 17-22) and Tony nominee Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane Dance Company (Jan. 8, 2010).

The Dallas Theater Center season will include the previously announced A Midsummer Night's Dream (Oct. 24-Nov. 22); A Christmas Carol (Dec. 1-27); the new musical Give It Up! with book by Douglas Carter Beane and music/lyrics by Lewis Flinn (Jan. 15-Feb. 14, 2010); Neil LaBute's The Beauty Plays (Feb. 23-May 23, 2010); Death of a Salesman (April 16-May 16, 2010); and a revised version of the Charles Strouse and Lee Adams musical It's a Bird…It's a Plane…It's Superman with a new version of the original David Newman-Robert Benton book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (June 18 - July 25, 2010).
