News Daniel Evans to Direct New Production of Oliver! at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre Daniel Evans, artistic director of Sheffield Theatres, will direct a new production of Lionel Bart's Oliver! as this year's Christmas musical at the Crucible Theatre, beginning performances Nov. 29 prior to an official opening Dec. 16, for a run through Jan. 25, 2014.

Evans is currently represented on the touring road by his Sheffield production of a new stage adaptation of The Full Monty that has already been announced to transfer to the West End's Noel Coward Theatre next February. Other directorial credits at Sheffield have included Racing Demon, Othello, Macbeth, My Fair Lady and the forthcoming This Is My Family.

As an actor, his previous work for the company includes Company, The Pride, Cloud Nine and The Tempest. Other acting roles outside the company include Sunday in the Park with George (London's Menier Chocolate Factory, subsequently transferring to the West End's Wyndham's Theatre and Broadway's Studio 54), for which he won an Olivier Award and was Tony-nominated. He also won an Olivier for Merrily We Roll Along in 2001 at the Donmar Warehouse. He has also worked extensively for the Royal Court, Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre.

The production will be designed by Peter McKintosh, with choreography by Alistair David, musical direction by Jonathan Gill, lighting design by Howard Harrison and sound design by Simon Baker. The orchestral arrangements are by William David Brohn, and the production is licensed by Cameron Mackintosh and the Southbook Group.
