News Daniel Sullivan Directs Star-Studded Cast for April 21 Benefit at Public Theater A starry cast will take part in a one-night-only benefit reading of works by 2003 Pulitzer Prize winner Robert A. Caro.

Entitled Caro’s L.B.J.: A Theatrical Portrait of the 36th President with Robert A. Caro and Friends, the April 21 evening at the Public Theater will benefit The Play Company and will feature readings by Caro as well as those from actors Barbara Barrie, Buck Henry, Maria Tucci and Michael Wiggins. Daniel Sullivan — of Proof and The Heidi Chronicles fame — will direct the 7 PM performance, which will also feature works by such dramatists as James Baldwin, Alice Childress and David Rabe. Robert A. Caro was awarded the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for his book “Master of the Senate,” the third volume in a series on President Lyndon B. Johnson. Caro also received a 2002 National Book Award for the same tome. Founded in 1998 by Kate Loewald, Jack Temchin and the late Mike Ockrent, The Play Company is a not-for-profit N.Y.C. theatre that develops and produces new plays and literary events from around the world.
