News Danz-Fulham-Leight's Fame Takes a Holiday Takes a Holiday Nov. 19 OOB Fame Takes a Holiday, the new comedy which features 1999 Tony Award-winning playwright Warren Leight (Side Man) as co-author, ends its run at La MaMa E.T.C. Nov. 19. Leight's co-conspirators on this tale of four female comics who almost make it to the big time are Cassandra Danz (aka Canada's Mrs. Greenthumbs, the Diva of Dirt) and Mary Fulham, a Montreal Fringe Festival winner for P.S. 69.

Fame Takes a Holiday, the new comedy which features 1999 Tony Award-winning playwright Warren Leight (Side Man) as co-author, ends its run at La MaMa E.T.C. Nov. 19. Leight's co-conspirators on this tale of four female comics who almost make it to the big time are Cassandra Danz (aka Canada's Mrs. Greenthumbs, the Diva of Dirt) and Mary Fulham, a Montreal Fringe Festival winner for P.S. 69.

Fame Takes a Holiday harks back to the 1980's when Leight, Danz and Fulham wrote for an all-girl comedy group, The High Heeled Women. High Heeled Women skits are included in Fame, which traces the fall from grace of a women's troupe who begins the night at The Copa and ends it in the basement of a Masonic Lodge in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

Abigail Gampel, Deborah LaCoy, Susan Murphy and Mary Purdy star as the four comedians. LaCoy stood by for Amy Madigan in the Jessica Lange-Alec Baldwin Streetcar Named Desire and has appeared Off-Broadway in plays by Christopher Durang and Keith Redden. Prudy and Murphy are both comics and Gampel performed in recent productions of Dead WaitThe Elektra Fugues.

Fulham directs. Barbara Allen, comic choreographer with the Ridiculous Theatre Company and the Ballet Trocadero de Monte Carlo, created the dances. When Pigs Fly's Dick Gallagher, part of the composing team on Fame, is also musical director. He shares the music credit with Tracey Berg, Cliff Korman and Marc Shaiman ("South Park,"Hairspray).

Greg Mercurio is the set designer with the Ridiculous Theatre Company's Ramona Ponce doing the costumes. Performances of Fame Takes a Holiday began Oct. 26. Tickets are $15. La MaMa E.T.C. is located at 74A East Fourth Street. For reservations, call (212) 475-7710
