The production in Chelsea, MI, will play Jan. 17-March 8, 2008. Opening is Jan. 25.

Michigan playwright MacGregor previously saw his The Late Great Henry Boyle produced by PRTC. The Jeff Daniels-founded troupe is devoted to Midwestern voices.

Performances are at the Purple Rose's home at 137 Park Street, Chelsea, MI, 60 miles west of Detroit.

According to PRTC, "This world premiere comedy takes its title from the Latin proverb, which, literally translated as 'in wine, the truth,' suggests that people reveal their truest feelings under the influence of alcohol. On Halloween night, two middle-aged couples prepare to attend a friend's annual party. Though the evening begins as usual, familiar traditions slowly unravel when the foursome shares a bottle of South American ceremonial wine made from the skin of blue dart tree frogs. Under the influence of this tribal truth serum, what follows is an unpredictable night of unbridled and shocking honesty that stretches the bounds of their friendship forever."

Under artistic director Guy Sanville's direction, the cast of Vino Veritas includes Quetta Carpenter, Tommy A. Gomez, PRTC resident artist Suzi Regan and PRTC associate artist Phil Powers. This production includes set design by Daniel C. Walker, prop design by Danna Segrest, costume design by Christianne Myers, lighting design by Dana White and sound design by Quintessa Gallinat. Michelle DiDomenico stage manages with Stephanie Buck as assistant stage manager.
