The Hamilton Tony winner returns to the Off-Broadway stage for Suzan-Lori Parks’ White Noise.

Daveed Diggs stopped by the Today Show just before performances of his latest Off-Broadway show begin March 5 at the Public Theater.

Diggs stars alongside Sheria Irving, Zoë Winters, and Thomas Sadoski in the new Suzan-Lori Parks play White Noise. “It's a really incredible, beautiful piece of writing that deals with some very complicated and difficult issues that we need to be talking about—centered around four friends—and we watch them cope with some very heavy stuff in their relationship together,” Diggs said. “It’s kind of the best thing I've ever read.”

Diggs plays Leo who, after an encounter with the police, feels the need for radical action. The actor says that he was immediately interested after reading the script. “Favorite playwright, [plus] Oskar Eustis, the artistic director, is directing the show, [and] the cast is unbelievable. You’re gonna wanna see this one.”

As for returning to the Public, where Hamilton debuted Off-Broadway, Diggs said, “That's my favorite place in New York. I'm at the Public all the time. We run a program called the Bars Workshop out of the Public Theater. ... It’s my New York home base.”

White Noise has already been extended through April 21.
