News   David Chandler Is The Master Builder at Yale Rep Beginning Sept. 18
The Yale Repertory Theatre production of the Henrik Ibsen classic The Master Builder begins performances Sept. 18 in New Haven.

Evan Yionoulis stages the Paul Walsh translation of the Ibsen work that will run through Oct. 10. The Master Builder officially opens Sept. 24 at the University Theatre.

The cast features Bill Buell (Equus, Urinetown) as Doctor Herdal, David Chandler (Lost in Yonkers, Death of a Salesman) as Halvard Solness, Susan Heyward (Ruined) as Hilda Wangel, Robert Hogan (A Few Good Men) as Knut Brovik, Slate Holmgren as Ragnar Brovik, Felicity Jones (Metamorphoses) as Aline Solness and Irene Sofia Lucio as Kaja Fosli.

Yale Rep notes for The Master Builder read: "Halvard Solness, a brilliantly successful architect, has willed his unspoken desire into reality at every turn — but not without a price. Now he lives in fear that the next generation will rise up and cast him aside. When Hilda Wangel, a bewitching young woman, arrives to collect on a decade-old debt, she breathes new life into the Solness home but also rekindles painful memories. Will she help him reach the pinnacle, or will she be the one to finally knock the Master Builder from his tower?"

The Yale Rep production includes set design by Timothy Brown, costume design by Katherine Akiko Day, lighting design by Paul Whitaker, with sound design and original music by Scott L. Nielsen. Dramaturgs are Maya Cantu and Colin Mannex.

Tickets are available by visiting YaleRep, by calling (203) 432-1234 or by visiting the Yale Rep box office (1120 Chapel Street).
