The productions were originally announced to be directed by Gary Griffin, who withdrew from the KC Rep engagement due to the Broadway production of Honeymoon in Vegas, which opens on Broadway in January.

Cromer previously staged Angels in America for Chicago's Journeymen, which was awarded the 1998 Jefferson Award for Best Production, Best Director and Best Ensemble. Cromer launched KC Rep's 2014-15 season with his award-winning staging of Our Town. His work also includes Tribes, Women or Nothing, Adding Machine, Nicholai and the Other and more.

Angels in America, Part One - Millennium Approaches and Part Two - Perestroika will run in rotating repertory Feb. 20-March 29 on the Copaken Stage.

Casting has not been announced.

"Since 2009, KC Rep has been an artistic home for me, and my experiences with The Glass Menagerie and Our Town were deeply satisfying," Cromer said in a statement. "The unexpected opportunity to direct one of the best plays of the last century in a full, rotating repertory production was too exciting to pass up. And to return to a play I first directed shortly after its New York premiere 17 years later will show that Angels has become a true American classic."
