PlayBlog David Hasselhoff to Get Roasted on Comedy Central David Hasselhoff will be the next subject of a Comedy Central Celebrity Roast, the cable network announced June 9.

The roast “honoring” Hasselhoff, the star of Broadway’s Jekyll and Hyde and the Las Vegas edition of The Producers who is best known for his television work on “Baywatch” and “Knight Rider,” will air Aug. 15 at 10 PM ET.

The rowdy and often bawdy event traditionally features a host of celebrities mocking the honored guest, with the proceeds often benefiting a charity of the guest’s choice. Stage vets Joan Rivers, Bob Saget and William Shatner are among the recent stars to be roasted by Comedy Central, as is Hasselhoff’s “Baywatch” costar, Pamela Anderson. The Comedy Central Roasts follow in the tradition of the celebrity roasts hosted at New York’s Friars Club and on “The Dean Martin Show.”

Hasselhoff said in a statement, "I'm honored that Comedy Central is going to get 'Hoff' on me … Laughter is the best medicine. Bring it on! I’m ready to take the heat."

Hasselhoff’s roasters and other guests at the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
