According to Deadline, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet is in talks to adapt Don Winslow’s The Force into a film for 20th Century Fox. The new cop novel was published July 20, earning strong reviews.
James Mangold will direct the film about an NYPD detective who crosses a moral line and slowly corrupts the team of officers who work below him. Ridley Scott, Shane Salerno, and Kevin Walsh are producing.
Mamet’s screenplays include The Untouchables, Hoffa, Hannibal, Heist, as well as adaptations of his own plays Speed the Plow, Glengarry Glen Ross, Oleanna, and American Buffalo.
