News David Oyelowo to Star in London Prometheus Bound
The Sound Theatre, London’s newest venue (10 Wardour Street), is set to present David Oyelowo in Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound.

James Kerr provides a new translation and also directs. The show will play Aug. 16 through Sept. 9. The play depicts the legend of Prometheus, the prophetic god who stole fire from Zeus to help humanity and was shackled to a rock for his pains. Kerr’s credits include Supplicants at the Gate, Morphic Resonance at the Donmar Warehouse, Presence at the Royal Court and Closing Time at the National.

David Oyelowo came to wide attention as Henry VI for the Royal Shakespeare Company. However, he’s most widely known in the U.K. for starring in the TV spy series “Spooks.” Forthcoming film work includes “Spice of Life,” “Derailed” and Kenneth Branagh’s new movie of “As You Like It” (Oyelowo plays Orlando). The cast also includes Hayley Atwell, Michael Dixon and Ciaran McIntyre.
