Broadway News David Yazbek and the Cast of The Band’s Visit Celebrate Tony Wins With Special Stage Door Performance The company of the Tony Award-winning musical commemorated the show’s recent victory in a very fitting way.

The cast of The Band’s Visit celebrated its first performance after winning ten Tony Awards with a special encore concert at the stage door June 12. David Yazbek, whose score earned him a Tony, joined the police band in the celebratory performance with the music that took the gold.

The musical recently nabbed an impressive ten Tony Awards from 11 nominations, including wins for Best Musical, Best Original Score, and for performers Katrina Lenk, Tony Shalhoub, and Ari'el Stachel.

Also taking home awards June 10 were director David Cromer, book writer Itamar Moses, orchestrator Jamshied Sharifi (whose work is on full display in the video above), lighting designer Tyler Micoleau, and sound designer Kai Harada.

The Band’s Visit follows the story of an Egyptian police band that ends up stranded in a remote village in the Israeli desert. With no way out until morning, the musicians develop unlikely friendships with the residents of the town over the course of one night.
