According to Atlantic, in Almost an Evening, "three short plays unsuccessfully tackle important questions. In Waiting, someone waits somewhere for quite some time. In Four Benches, a voyage to self-discovery takes a British intelligence agent to steam baths in New York and Texas, and to park benches in the U.S. and U.K. In Debate, cosmic questions are taken up. Not much is learned." Coen made his Off-Broadway debut as a playwright with this production of short plays at Atlantic Stage 2. He has made 13 movies with his brother Joel, including the Academy Award-winning films "No Country for Old Men" and "Fargo"; "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"; "Raising Arizona"; "Barton Fink"; "The Hudsucker Proxy" and "The Big Lebowski."
Day recently starred in the Off-Broadway production of Edward Albee's Peter and Jerry. She was nominated for a Tony Award for Proof on Broadway.
Hopper has appeared on Broadway in the revival of Present Laughter, won an Obie Award for More Stately Mansions Off-Broadway, and starred on the HBO series "Oz."
The creative team for Almost an Evening features scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Ilona Somogyi, lighting design by Don Holder and sound design by Eric Shim and fight choreography by J. David Brimmer.
The transfer is produced by Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, artistic director; Andrew D. Hamingson, managing director) and Art Meets Commerce (Chip Meyrelles, executive director; Ken Greiner, producing director).
