The ambitious performing arts event will feature more than 120 arts groups presenting 500 performances during 11 days. This is "often the first opportunity for emerging Washington-based artists to present their work," according to organizers. Average ticket price is about $15.

Participating theatre, dance, music, puppetry and other performing arts groups come from around the DC-metro area and across the United States.
Fringe fests around the world tend to draw troupes that revel in experiments, new forms and edgy, political or avant garde material — to say nothing of punchy titles that grab attention. Here's a sampling of some of the more eye-grabbing titles in the 2007 DC fringe:
"We are back with an even more diverse and uniquely DC event this year," stated festival director and co-founder Julianne Brienza. "We have spread into even more of the District's one of a kind neighborhoods. With artists from all over and all different disciplines, we look forward to exploring and playing with our audience over the days of performance."
The Capital Fringe Festival's mission is "to connect exploratory artists with adventurous audiences by creating an open-access annual performing arts festival in the District of Columbia."
Admission for festival shows ranges from free to $35 with an average price of $15. Two Festival passes are currently on sale: an All-Access Pass for $300 and a Six-Pack Pass for $75. They are available online or by phone at (866) 811-4111.
With an All-Access Pass, a patron can get a ticket to any performance. Tickets to individual performances go on sale July 9 and will be available online, by-phone and at the festival box office located in a vacant retail space at 507 7th Street, NW.
