Broadway in Chicago's 2018–2019 season, featuring six main productions and two off-season specials, will launch September 11 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre with the previously announced world premiere of the Broadway-bound musical Tootsie, based on the film of the same name. The newly announced full lineup also includes the Tony-winning Dear Evan Hansen and Tony winner Betty Buckley in Hello, Dolly!
Tony nominee Santino Fontana, who will soon play a limited run in Broadway's Hello, Dolly!, will star as struggling actor Michael Dorsey—the part created on film by Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman. Directed by Scott Ellis, performances of the David Yazbek-Robert Horn musical will continue through October 14.
The season will continue October 2–21 with Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Oriental Theatre. The national tour of the Tony-winning revival of Hello, Dolly!—starring Tony winner Buckley as the lovable matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi—will follow, running October 23–November 17 at the Oriental Theatre.
The tour of the recent Broadway revival of Miss Saigon will be seen at the Cadillac Palace November 13–December 8, and the British farce The Play That Goes Wrong, will take up residence at the Oriental December 4–16.
The season will conclude with Dear Evan Hansen, which recently won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album, February 12–March 10, 2019, at the Cadillac Palace.
The off-season specials include The Book of Mormon (November 20–December 2, 2018, at the Oriental) and Fiddler on the Roof (December 18–January 6, 2019, at the Cadillac Palace).
Season tickets will go on sale to the public March 28, and the six-show packages begin at $144. Current subscribers can renew now by visiting BroadwayInChicago.com or by calling (312) 977-1717.
