Premieres, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to “the development of new musicals for the theatre,” will stage three readings from May 25-June 3 at the Clark Studio Theater (70 Lincoln Center Plaza).

Staged readings, panel discussions, cabarets and other events comprise Premiere’s scheduled fare. The initial readings by Premieres include Heartland, with book and lyrics by Darrah Cloud and music by Kim D. Sherman; Richard Cory with book, music and lyrics by Ed Dixon; and Song of the Turtledove, with libretto by Noa Ain, and music by Noa Ain and Gerard Edery.

The O’Neill Theater Center’s co-founder and artistic director of the Musical Theater Conference, Paulette Haupt, is listed in production notes as the “artistic director of Premieres, which is presented by Premiera, Inc, a non profit organization dedicated to presenting new musical theater works.”

The story of a mother and her three daughters who “try to recapture the past as they confront the future,” Heartland will be staged May 25, May 27 and May 28.

Adapted from the A. R. Gurney play, Richard Cory is based on the poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson. It will be staged May 25, May 26 and May 27. Song of the Turtledove is described as freely based on the biblical “Song of Songs” in an “exotic mixing of American classical jazz and Arabic/Flamenco/Jewish music.” Turtledove will be staged May 31, June 1, June 2 and June 3.
