News   Designers and New Opening Night Announced for Public's Book of Grace
Complete creative duties have been announced for the Public Theater world premiere of Suzan-Lori Parks' The Book of Grace, which will now open March 17.

The family drama, which begins previews March 2 and was to originally open March 16, has delayed its opening by one day due to a scheduling conflict. James Macdonald directs the production that will run through April 4.

As previously reported, the cast will feature Elizabeth Marvel (Top Girls, Seascape) in the title role, with Amari Cheatom (Signature's Zooman and the Sign) and John Doman ("The Wire").

Designing the production are Eugene Lee (scenic design), Susan Hilferty (costume design), Jean Kalman (lighting design), Dan Moses Schreier (sound design) and Jeff Sugg (projection and video design).

The Book of Grace, according to press notes, is "a family portrait shattered by issues of rage, revenge, power and betrayal. When a young man returns home to South Texas to confront his father, everyday life erupts into a battle for personal survival. At once fiercely intimate and explosive, The Book of Grace weaves the story of three people bound together by love and longing, passion and ambition."

Suzan-Lori Parks is a Pulitzer Prize winner for her play Topdog/Underdog, which was produced at The Public. Her other works include Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 8 & 9), Fucking A, 365 Days/365 Plays, Imperceptible Mutabilities in the Third Kingdom, The America Play, Venus, The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World and In the Blood, among others. The Public Theater is located at 425 Lafayette Street in Manhattan.
