"Desperate Housewives" Star Emily Bergl Will Bring Kidding on the Square to the Beechman | Playbill

News "Desperate Housewives" Star Emily Bergl Will Bring Kidding on the Square to the Beechman
Emily Bergl, who played Beth Young on ABC's "Desperate Housewives," will bring her cabaret act, Kidding on the Square, to the Laurie Beechman Theatre April 26 at 7 PM and April 27 at 9:30 PM.

Bergl will be accompanied by musical director G. Scott Lacy.

Kidding on the Square is described as an evening of "old fashioned love songs with a twist, a journey that takes the audience on a roaring 20’s ride through love, heartbreak, and everything in between.  The show revolves around classic songs from the 1920’s and 30’s, but also presents vintage retakes on modern favorites from Lily Allen to Madonna."

“My cabaret is from an actor’s perspective. I’m not interested in just singing pretty standards at the piano,” Bergl said in a statement. “I wanted to develop a complete piece with an arc and different characters: an evening of songs that are stories.  At the end of the day, it’s all about entertaining people.”

Bergl most recently appeared on the New York stage in Second Stage’s Becky Shaw.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located at 407 West 42nd Street. For reservations call (212) 695-6909.
