News Details of Atlantic Theater Company Season Announced
Performance dates and other details about the Atlantic Theater Company's 2004-05 season have been announced.

A double-bill of Ionesco will kick off the season beginning Sept. 1. Tina Howe's new translation of The Bald Soprano and The Lesson will officially open Sept. 19 and will play through Oct. 10; Carl Forsman directs. Playwright Howe is the author of Coastal Disturbances, Painting Churches and Pride's Crossing.

The world premiere of Woody Allen's A Second Hand Memory follows, playing Nov. 3-Jan. 9, 2005. Allen will also direct his new play, which officially opens Nov. 22.

David Mamet, a co-founder of the Atlantic Theater Company, returns with the world premiere of his new comedy, Romance. Directed by Neil Pepe, Romance — set in a modern-day courtroom — will play Feb. 9 April 3, 2005. The official opening night is set for March 3.

The season will conclude with Tom Donaghy's new adaptation of The Cherry Orchard, May 25-July 3. Mary Steenburgen will star in the Chekhov work under the direction of Scott Zigler; opening night is June 16.

The Atlantic is currently presented the critically acclaimed The Two and Only starring Jay Johnson. The show, which explores the history of ventriloquism, has been extended to Aug. 15.
