Diana, Princess of Wales, is the subject of a new Dutch one-woman musical, titled Diana. The tuner will play workshops in August and November throughout The Netherlands, starting Aug. 17 at the Polanentheater in Amsterdam. Try-outs will take place in April-May 2000, followed by a national tour beginning fall 2000.

Diana is written by Maurice Wijnen (concept and script), Petra van der Eerden (lyrics) and Amina Figarova (music) and will be directed by Jurrian van Dongen. The musical is co-produced by Mojo Concerts and De Bogen Theaterprodukties.

The role of Diana will be played by Belgian actress Vera Mann, who played starring roles in the musicals Les Miserbales, My Fair Lady, Sacco & Vanzetti and Joe, de musical.

Diana, takes place in Kensington Palace where the princess is going through her wardrobe trying to decide which of her dresses will be sold for charity at the auction house Sotheby’s. All of her dresses bring back memories of the turbulent preceding years. The story culminates in an imaginary press conference.
