Classic Arts News Dicapo Opera Theatre to Premiere Nilas Martins Dances Set to Puccini On March 25, New York's Dicapo Opera Theatre will give the world premiere of dances set to Puccini by New York City Ballet principal dancer Nilas Martins.
The evening, which repeats on March 26, is titled "Puccini Passion!" It features soprano Julianna DiGiacomo, tenor John Matz, and dancers from NYCB, the Ailey School, and the School of American Ballet.

The dances are set to Puccini's early Preludio Sinfonico, arias from and La Rondine, orchestral works including the discarded prelude to Act II of Manon Lescaut, and 11 songs.

Martins, a NYCB principal since 1993, began choreographing in 1995 and founded his own company in 2003.

Tickets are $47.50 and are available at the Dicapo Opera Theatre box office at 184 East 76th Street or by calling 212-288-9438 x 10.
