News Dick Barton Returns to Stage at U.K.'s Croydon Theatre

Gabardine collar up, trilby at a rakish angle — intrepid sleuth Dick Barton is back in his most death-defying episode yet, Dick Barton Episode IV: The Flight of the Phoenix, which plays at the Warehouse Theatre, Croydon, from Dec. 6, 2002, to Feb. 2, 2003, with press nights on Dec. 10 and 11.

Ably assisted by his jolly working-class sidekicks Jock and Snowy, Dick has waged a constant battle with the forces of EFIL (the society of Evil Foreigners in London). But this time, is Dick's number finally up? Will Dick's courage crack and stiff upper lip tremble when, across a darkened crowded room, his eyes meet with the most fiendish foe yet? Could this be the last time we see Dick Barton alive? Tune in to this year's all new musical adventure as 1940's radio star Dick Barton Special Agent dares to defy gravity.

The cast features Adam Morris as Dick Barton with Darrell Brockis, William Oxborrow, Kit Benjamin, Stephen Aintree and Louise Doherty.

The book, music and lyrics are by Duncan Wisbey and Stefan Bednarczyk, with Ted Craig, who also directs. Musical direction is by Duncan Wisbey and Stefan Bednarczyk, musical staging by Mitch Sebastian, design by Ellen Cairns, lighting by James Whiteside.
