News Director Richard Eyre at Work on Projects for Stage and Screen Richard Eyre — director of the film "Notes on a Scandal" and the recent West End play The Reporter — has lined up new projects for stage and screen.

According to Variety, Eyre will direct "The Other Man," a new film for which he has also provided the screenplay. The motion picture is based on the Bernhard Schlink short story. The famed director will also helm a West End revival of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts. Ghosts is one of two West End stage works currently being developed with producer Sonia Friedman. The trade paper does not name the other stage project.

Eyre, the one-time artistic director of the National Theatre (1988-1997), has recently staged Hedda Gabler at the Almeida and Mary Poppins (both in London and on Broadway). Other stage credits include The Crucible, Vincent in Brixton, Amy's View, The Judas Kiss, Stanley, Skylight, Racing Demon, Indiscretions and Arcadia.

In addition to the lauded "Notes on a Scandal," his film resume includes "Stage Beauty" and "Iris" — he also penned the screenplay for the latter.
