The film’s producer, Roy Conli, announced Feb. 15 on Disney’s Facebook page that the tale of the princess with freakishly long hair will be released in November as "Tangled."
Conli wrote on Facebook, "It’s a really fresh, smart take on the Rapunzel story. In our film, the infamous bandit Flynn Rider meets his match in the girl with the 70 feet of magical golden hair. We're having a lot of fun pairing Flynn, who's seen it all, with Rapunzel, who's been locked away in a tower for 18 years."
The film will be presented in stereoscopic 3D in a limited release starting Nov. 12 before going wide Nov. 24.
Originally rumored to feature the voices of Tony winners Kristin Chenoweth and Dan Fogler, "Tangled" is currently set to boast the talents of pop star/actress Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi (NBC-TV’s “Chuck”), and two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy, according to imdb.com.
The film will feature songs by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, A Christmas Carol) has a long history with Disney, including the stage and screen versions of Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. Slater (newyorkers) has collaborated with Menken on The Little Mermaid and Sister Act.
