Royal, the playwright who took the beloved Peanuts comic-strip characters into adolescence with Dog Sees God in 2005, will make his feature film screenwriting debut with "Easy A," a comedy from Screen Gems opening Sept. 17.

The film stars Emma Stone as a high school student who pretends to lose her virginity and then decides to flaunt the bad reputation that results for her advantage. Stage vets Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson play her parents, and the film also features Amanda Bynes, Thomas Haden Church, Lisa Kudrow and Malcolm McDowell. Will Gluck directs.
