Classic Arts News Domingo to Make One-Night Appearance in Royal Danish Opera's Ring Next Year Tenor Plšcido Domingo will make his first-ever appearance at the Royal Danish Opera on April 7, 2006, singing Siegmund in Wagner's Die Walk‹re, the company announced.
The single performance will serve as a prelude to the Royal Opera's performances of the complete Ring cycle, to take place in April and May 2006 at the new Copenhagen Opera House.

The company's production of the Ring, directed by artistic director Kasper Bech Holten, began with new stagings of Die Walk‹re and Das Rheingold at the older Royal Theatre in 2003 and will continue at the new venue with Siegfried in May 2005 and G‹tterd‹mmerung in February 2006. When the complete cycle is staged at the Copenhagen Opera House, the productions of Die Walk‹re and Das Rheingold will be modified to fit the larger space.

"It is a great pleasure for me to come to Copenhagen to perform at the new opera house for the first time," Domingo said in a statement. "My previous performances in the city have only been at concerts. I look forward to working with Kasper again, after our successful collaboration on Menotti's Goya in Vienna."
