The production will begin performances Sept. 15, prior to an official opening Sept. 20, for a run through Oct. 15. Directed by Crucible artistic director Daniel Evans, the production will also feature Colin George, the theatre's founding artistic director, as Brabantio and Gratiano. Peters, who plays Othello, has starred onstage as Billy Flynn in Chicago and in The Iceman Cometh opposite Kevin Spacey, both of which he played in the West End and on Broadway. He was last seen on the London stage in Porgy and Bess at the Savoy Theatre. He has also worked extensively at the National Theatre, including on productions of Mourning Becomes Electra, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Guys and Dolls. Other TV credits include "Treme," "Damages," "The Corner," "Jonathan Creek," "Medics" and "Masculine Ending"; film credits include "Brief Interviews with Hideous Men," "Freedomland" and "Gulliver’s Travels."
West, who plays Iago, is about to star in Butley at the Duchess Theatre (from June 1); other recent London stage credits include Life is a Dream at the Donmar Warehouse, Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll at the Duke of York’s Theatre and The Voysey Inheritance at the National Theatre. On Broadway he has starred in the Roundabout's production of Design for Living. Other TV credits include "Appropriate Adult," "The Hour," "The Devil's Whore" and "Nicholas Nickleby". Film credits include "John Carter of Mars," "The Awakening," "300," "Mona Lisa Smile," "28 Days" and "A Midsummer Night’s Dream."
