Two aging hippies lead their all-girl band on one last road tour of small clubs and dives across the U.S., just before fading into obscurity. No, it isn't the 2010 Go-Gos reunion, it's a new play by Donna Kaz, receiving a staged reading directed by Kaz at the Stage Directors & Choreographers Foundation in NYC, June 22, 7 PM (EST).

The play's title, Get Out Your Dead Stamp, refers to the band's name, "Dead."

Dead Stamp is the first of the summer line-up the SDCF's Staged Reading/Works-in-Progress Series. Upcoming plays include:
July 13: Mary Gail's Jambalu. Seret Scott directs this satirical look at a black research chemist who undergoes a radical change of skin color.

July 27: Michele Rosenthal's I Don't. A young couple discovers all the reasons why they shouldn't get married in this comedy directed by Robert Neal Marshall.

Aug. 10: Stephen Webber performs The Bridge, Hart Crane's verse play about the new world. Andrew Kranis directs. Aug. 24: Toni Press-Coffman's Touch. Jackie Berger directs this tale of a man getting over the murder of his wife.

According to associate director James Graves, the Stage Directors & Choreographers Foundation was formed as a branch of the Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers but is now a separate, though connected, organization with its own board of directors. The organization was formed to foster, promote and develop "the craft and creativity of directors and choreographers."
