News Donna McKechnie: Inside the Music by Durang Plays in L.A., April 12-May 11 The Colony Theatre Company presents the Los Angeles premiere of Donna McKechnie: Inside The Music, written by Christopher Durang, April 12-May 11. The show, directed by Thommie Walsh, will feature the title performer.

Inside The Music is based on the real-life stories of Broadway's McKechnie. From her beginnings as a dancer raised in the Midwest to her literal runaway to New York, the show follows the struggles of the stage star's career and those who helped along the way, including Gwen Verdon, Bob Fosse, Michael Bennett, Frank Loesser, Leonard Bernstein, Cy Coleman, Fred Astaire and Stephen Sondheim. McKechnie got her first big break in the Broadway musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Other credits include The Education of H*Y*M*A*N K*A*P*L*A*N, Promises, Promises, Company, On the Town, State Fair and her Tony Award-winning turn in A Chorus Line.

Durang is best known as the playwright who penned such works as Beyond Therapy, Sex and Longing and The Actor's Nightmare.
