The singer-actor will now play the role created in this revival by James Naughton through May 1. Bernard Dotson will temporarily replace Barrett April 7-17 with Barrett set to return to the company April 18.

The Chicago company currently stars Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart, Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Anne L. Nathan as Matron "Mama" Morton, Ray Bokhour as Amos Hart, R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine and Brent Barrett as Billy Flynn.

As previously reported, on April 10 Salonge Sandy will assume the role of Annie. Christine Brooks will continue playing that role through April 10. And, on April 25 Broadway favorite Mary Testa will begin a limited engagement as Matron "Mama" Morton. Testa will play the conniving jail matron through July 17.

On Broadway, Bernard Dotson has been seen in Imaginary Friends, Sweet Smell of Success, Jesus Christ Superstar and Ragtime. His national and international tour credits include Chicago, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Sophisticated Ladies and A Chorus Line.

Brent Barrett received an Olivier Award nomination for his role in the London company of Kiss Me, Kate, and his other theatrical credits include the Broadway productions of Annie Get Your Gun and Candide. Barrett received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for his work in the L.A. production of Chicago and has been seen Off Broadway in Closer Than Ever, March of the Falsettos, The Death of Von Richtofen, The Time of the Cuckoo and Portrait of Jenny. His television and film appearances include "Hercules," "Longtime Companion," "All My Children," "Another World" and "Guiding Light." Chicago won the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
