She will succeed Charlotte d'Amboise in the role of merry murderess Roxie Hart. Dowling is scheduled to play the role, originated in this revival by Ann Reinking, through March 8, according to a spokesperson for the Tony-winning production. February 23 will also mark the return of Ray Bokhour to the role of Amos Hart.

(D'Amboise is departing the production to portray Roxie Hart in the national tour of Chicago at Chicago's Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Feb. 26-March 8.)

In related news Tom Wopat, who is currently playing Billy Flynn on Broadway, will play that slick lawyer through March 1 and will return for another stint beginning March 23. During his time off, Wopat will headline the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room.

Tom Hewitt will again play Flynn on Broadway March 2-22.

Bryn Dowling has been seen on Broadway in Chicago, The Producers and Fosse and Off-Broadway in The Frogs. Her screen credits include "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Late Show With David Letterman," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and "The Producers: The Movie Musical." Tom Hewitt received Tony and Drama Desk nominations for his performance in The Rocky Horror Show and has also been seen on Broadway in Dracula, The Musical; The Boys from Syracuse; The Lion King; School for Scandal; and The Sisters Rosenzweig. He also appeared in the national tours of Urinetown and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and has been seen Off-Broadway in Jeffrey, Beau Jest, Richard III and Othello.

Ray Bokhour made his Broadway debut in Chicago as Amos, a role he also played in the tour of the Kander and Ebb musical. His other theatrical credits include Rameau's Nephew, King Lear, Road to Nirvana, Moliere's Shorts, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Much Ado About Nothing and The Lesson. On screen Bokhour has been seen in "Man on the Moon," "Hitman's Journal," "Personals," "Ali," Changing Lanes," "I'm With Lucy," "Ed," "The Job," "Third Watch" and "The Indiana Jones Chronicles."

Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.

Chicago plays the Ambassador Theatre, located at 215 West 49th Street.

The long-running musical celebrated its 12th anniversary and its 5,000th performance on Broadway Nov. 14, 2008.
