Entitled Live in 2003, the series, which begins May 1, will feature new works by such playwrights as Mass Appeal’s Bill C. Davis and Nine’s Mario Fratti as well as Arlene Hutton, Le Wilhelm and Arnie Johnston and Debbie Percy. Live in 2003 kicks off with Davis’ The Sex King, featuring direction by Matthew Corozine and starring Alan Benditt and Alisha Campbell. The Sex King tells the story of Jeremiah Rockwell, a sexually liberated pacifist, activist and family man, who is tried for running an “escort service” in Berkshire County. A previous reading of the play at Manhattan Theatre Club featured Judd Hirsch. Playwright Davis has also written Mass Appeal, Dancing in the End Zone, Wrestlers, Spine and Avow. He is currently collaborating with Brett Boles on a new musical entitled Austin’s Bridge.
