News Dreamgirls' Loretta Devine Joins Cast of Unspeakable Reading, About Life of Richard Pryor Creative Mind Entertainment & OBC DreamTheatre in association with Randolph Sturrup and Mike Muse will present a by-invitation-only reading of the new play UNSPEAKABLE: a dramatic fantasia, which explores the "tragic genius of comedian Richard Pryor," Nov. 9 at the Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

The 7 PM reading will feature the talents of Loretta Devine, who created the role of Lorrell Robinson in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, as well as Michelle Wilson, Adam Couperthwaite, Dominique Morisseau and James Murray Jackson, Jr.

Unspeakable is described as "an unflinching ride through the emotional landscape of comedic legend, Richard Pryor. Experience his rise to super stardom in the shadow of Bill Cosby and his blazingly self-destructive love affair with cocaine and….Jessica."

Loretta Devine has also been seen on Broadway in Hair, A Broadway Musical, Comin' Uptown and Big Deal. Among her more recent screen credits are "Jumping the Broom," "For Colored Girls," "Crash" and "Grey's Anatomy."

James Jackson received an Outstanding Actor Award for his portrayal of Richard Pryor at the 2005 New York International Fringe Festival.

The Comedy Store is located in Los Angeles at 8433 Sunset Boulevard; there is a two-drink minimum per person. Industry folk interested in attending the reading should e-mail [email protected].
