News "Dreamgirls" Oscar Winner Hudson to Be Part of "In Performance at the White House" Jennifer Hudson will join Bob Dylan, John Legend, Smokey Robinson and others for "In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement" on Feb. 10.

The evening kicks off the 2010 White House Music Series and celebrates Black History Month. President Obama and the First Lady will host the event, which will be streamed live on whitehouse.gov and then broadcast by PBS on Feb. 11. The evening will feature songs from the Civil Rights Movement and readings from famous Civil Rights speeches and writings.

Hudson, who won an Academy Award for her role as Effie White in the film “Dreamgirls,” first burst on to the musical scene as a runner-up in the third season of “American Idol.” She has since been seen in the films “Sex and the City” and “The Secret Life of Bees,” among others.
