News DRG Releases Reissue of Carroll-Kiley No Strings DRG Records has released a reissue of the 1962 Broadway cast recording of No Strings.

The musical, which starred Diahann Carroll and Richard Kiley, marked the first time Richard Rodgers — known primarily for his music to Oscar Hammerstein's lyrics in such blockbusters as The Sound of Music, The King and I, Carousel and Oklahoma! — wrote both the show's music and lyrics. Although No Strings was released briefly on CD in 1993, the recent City Center Encores! production of the musical has created new demand for the recording. The Encores! production featured James Naughton and Maya Days. The complete track listing for No Strings follows:
"The Sweetest Sounds"
"How Sad"
"Loads of Love"
"The Man Who Has Everything"
"Be My Host"
"La-La-La"
"You Don't Tell Me"
"Love Makes the World Go"
"Nobody Told Me"
"Look No Further"
"Maine"
"An Orthodox Fool"
"Eager Beaver"
"No Strings"
Finale: "The Sweetest Sounds" (Reprise)

About an interracial love affair between a white novelist and a black model, the musical won Tony Awards for leading lady Carroll and for Rodgers for Best Score.
