Ducktastic! and Mary Stuart Open in London Oct. 19

News   Ducktastic! and Mary Stuart Open in London Oct. 19
In a less than predictable pairing, theatre critics will shuttle between a fantastical parody and a gritty political drama on October 19.

The Donmar Warehouse's production of the Schiller, starring Harriet Walter and Janet McTeer as the warring queens Elizabeth and Mary Queen of Scots, was transferred to the Apollo, Shaftesbury Avenue, by U.S producer Arielle Tepper.

Due to duck problems, Ducktastic! — the Right Size’s follow-up to their hit, The Play What I Wrote — goes before the reviewers on the Wednesday matinee at the Albery. Having digested the knockabout tale of Blackpool duck illusionists aiming for Las Vegas, the critics will have only a few hours to get their heads in gear for Schiller’s Mary Stuart.

The Donmar cast remains mostly intact. Alongside Walter and McTeer will be Tam Dean Burn, Stephen Feltcher, Guy Henry, David Horovitch, Rory Kinnear and Rufus Wright. Phyllida Lloyd directs, with designs by Anthony Ward, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Paul Arditti.

For Ducktastic!, The Right Size, otherwise known as comic duo Sean Foley and Hamish McColl, have again been inspired by famous entertainers, as they parody the flamboyant Las Vegas illusionists Siegfried and Roy. Kenneth Branagh resumes directing duties, while David Pugh will again produce.

In The Play What I Wrote The Right Size paid manic tribute to the legendary comedy act Morecambe and Wise. Surprise guest stars were welcomed each night. Those who volunteered for the treatment included Ralph Fiennes, Roger Moore, Glenn Close, Jude Law, Minnie Driver, Ewan McGregor, Nathan Lane, Liam Neeson and Branagh himself. The show played the West End, Broadway and toured extensively. For more information on Ducktastic!, call (0)870 060 6621. For more on Mary Stuart, call (0)870 890 1101.
