News Dukakis Joins Masked Post-Show Talkback Dec. 15 Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis will take part in a special talkback session following the Dec. 15 performance of the Off-Broadway Middle East-set drama Masked.

Following the 4 PM matinee, Dukakis will discuss with the cast and creative team of Masked their connections to the work, and the creative process that brought the play to life. Dukakis will also share her personal experiences of the creative process, as well as the importance of socially aware art.

"Masked is a deeply moving play showing us the human face of the contradictions inherent in the near-Eastern conflict," Dukakis states. "I am looking forward to discussing the play with the actors in an in-depth way."

Dukakis appears as part of Masked's Urgent Conversations talkback series that features community leaders, religious leaders, influential writers, journalists, experts in conflict resolution, activists and members of the creative team, taking part in post-performance discussions several times a week.

Olympia Dukakis' stage credits include Rose, Social Security, A Mother, Mother Courage, The Rose Tattoo, The Cherry Orchard, Three Sisters, The Seagull, Long Day's Journey Into Night, Iphegenia in Aulis, Othello, Miss Julie, A Streetcar Named Desire and The Night of the Iguana. She garnered her Oscar for her turn in the film "Moonstruck" and has also been seen in "Steel Magnolias," "Mr. Holland's Opus" and the "Tales of the City" series.

Sanjit DeSilva, Daoud Heidami and Arian Moayed star in Israeli-born playwright Ilan Hatsor's award-winning play about three Palestinian brothers. According to press notes, the drama "tackles the cultural divide at the heart of the Middle East conflict. Masked depicts the tragedy of one family torn between obligations, kinship, principles and survival. It is the first play by an Israeli playwright about the Intifada (Palestinian uprising)." Translated by Michael Taub, Masked is directed by Ami Dayan. Rounding out the creative team are scenic designers Wilson Chin and Aleksandra Maslik, costume designer Jennifer Caprio and lighting designer Thom Weaver.
