News Dy-no-mite! '70s Musical Revue, Streakin'!, Reveals Itself in NYC April 17 Streakin'!, the revue billed as "a fun-filled musical flashback to the outrageous 1970s," returns to New York City with a fresh run — so to speak — at Babalu restaurant and cabaret.

The show, whose title references the craze of running nude in public, played to SRO audiences last season, and begins anew 8 PM April 17. And, yes, folks, the show also includes a real-live streaker.

Babalu Restaurant/Theatre/Nightclub is at 323 W. 44th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Performances play 8 PM Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in a cabaret setting. Tickets for ringside VIP tables, which include two drinks and one appetizer per ticket, are $80, with $55 and $35 tickets for general cabaret seating.

Written by Jamie Rocco and Albert Evans, with Heidi Karol Johnson, Patti Wyss and Ed Cionek, the show is directed and choreographed by Rocco. Streakin'! opens 8 PM May 2.

"Right now we are playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8 PM with the hope that on its own steam the show will find its audience, increase the number of performances and run forever," Rocco told Playbill On Line.

Streakin'! features over 40 hit songs and fast paced skits that include "Scream That Theme" (think "Name That Tune"), "27 Bubblegum Lane" (think "Partridge Family") and "Scary's Disco Inferno" ("Saturday Night Fever" meets "Carrie" at the "Towering Inferno"). According to production notes, "The show revisits musical styles from disco to country to soul with such hits as 'I Love The Nightlife,' 'YMCA,' 'Take Me Home Country Roads,' 'Walk On The Wild Side,' 'I Am Woman,' 'Joy to the World,' 'Have You Never Been Mellow,' 'You Light Up My Life,' 'The Bitch Is Back,' 'I Will Survive,' 'Last Dance,' and three dozen more chart toppers." The cast includes Tari Kelly (Beauty & The Beast, Show Boat), Monte Wheeler (The IT Girl), La Vonda Elam (Jane Eyre, Big River), Darryl Jovan (Smokey Joe's Cafe with Gladys Knight), Christi Moore-Leslie (national company of Wizard of Oz with Mickey Rooney) and Danny Vaccaro (Nunsense Ah-Men), with Trevor Richardson and Sandra Bargman. Orchestrations are by Patti Wyss and Ed Cionek with the five-piece "Mellow Bunch" under the musical supervision of Jason Paul DeBord (Batboy) and musical direction of John Di Pinto.

Streakin'! began as a workshop by creators writers Jamie Rocco and Albert Evans who were responsible for the off-Broadway hits Pageant and Nite Club Confidential. A six-week try-out at a small theatre in Wichita turned into a five-month run.

Writer-director Rocco did the musical staging for Madison Square Garden's productions of the Wizard of Oz starring Roseanne and Eartha Kitt. He also directed, choreographed and re-conceived a new stage version of Singin' in the Rain, which has been produced around the globe.

Writer-arranger Evans wrote the music for the Off Broadway hits Pageant and Nite Club Confidential. As composer-in-residence at the Paper Mill Playhouse, he wrote lyrics for Mikado, Inc. and music for Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities. He also wrote the lyrics for the New York City Opera's new performing version of The Merry Widow, seen on PBS' Live from Lincoln Center. His most recent musical is the Dickens-meets Nashville fantasy A Country Christmas Carol.

Streakin'! is produced by Steven Yuhasz and Jennifer Hall. Costume and scenic design are by Anne Lommel, lighting by Herrick Goldman and sound design by David Arnold.

There is no food or drink minimum for the show. For reservations or information, call (212) 279-4200 or visit www.streakin.com.

"In 1995 Albert Evans, Heidi Karol Johnson and I got together and started throwing around ideas for a new rock and roll musical revue," Rocco told Playbill On-Line. "Before we knew it we had an outline for a show called Streakin'!"

The trio got busy with other personal and professional projects, and in 2001 a producer friend (Christine Tasheff of Cabaret Oldtown in Wichita) called Rocco and asked if he had any unfinished projects in a drawer. Streakin'! was pulled from the mothballs and three months later Tasheff produced it and gave the collaboratores the chance to work on the show for six weeks.

Steven Yuhasz and Jennifer Hall heard about the show, optioned it and then provided a New York workshop in April 2002 at The El Flamingo.
