News Eartha Kitt, Barbara Cook and Imelda Staunton Headline London Sondheim Birthday Gala Some big names of London’s theatre world will converge on Drury Lane Oct. 23 to celebrate Stephen Sondheim’s 75th birthday. The Theatre Royal will house Children Will Listen, the a gala in aid of the charity ChildLine.

The line-up of stars includes the veteran Sondheim interpreter Barbara Cook as well as Daniel Evans, who is soon to headline the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of Sunday in the Park With George, and Eartha Kitt. Other big names include Rosemary Ashe, John Barrowman, Clive Carter, Brian Conley, Gemma Craven, James Dreyfuss, Tim Flavin, Roy Hudd, Laura Michelle Kelly, Sian Phillips, Beverly Klein, Bonnie Langford, Josie Lawrence, Millicent Martin, Nicholas Parsons, Imelda Staunton, Claire Sweeney, Sally Ann Triplett and Marti Webb. The gala will include the British premiere of the song, “Isn’t He Something” from Bounce, Sondheim’s latest musical, which has yet to be produced in the UK.

Children Will Listen is produced by Richard Douglas and associate produced by Nicholas Parsons. Gareth Valentine is music director, Bill Dreamer the choreographer.
