Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole, an adoptive mother of three, will be honored at the benefit, which is set to begin at 6:30 PM. Channel 2 News' Cindy Hsu will emcee the evening, which will feature performances from Ebersole, Donna Murphy and Melissa Errico.
Founded in 1997 by Dr. Jane Aronson, Worldwide Orphans' goal is to "improve the lives of children living in orphanages."
Most recently on Broadway in Steel Magnolias, Christine Ebersole received a 2003 Tony nomination for her performance in Lincoln Center’s recent production of Dinner at Eight. She also received a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her work as Dorothy Brock in the hit revival of 42nd Street. Ebersole’s other Broadway credits include The Best Man, Getting Away with Murder, Harrigan 'n Hart, Camelot, Oklahoma!, On the Twentieth Century, I Love My Wife, Angel Street and the City Center Encores! productions of A Connecticut Yankee, Ziegfeld Follies of 1936, Lady in the Dark and Allegro. She was also seen Off-Broadway in Talking Heads.
Donna Murphy received Tony Awards for her performances in Stephen Sondheim's Passion and the revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I. Her other Broadway credits include Wonderful Town, They're Playing Our Song, The Human Comedy and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Murphy's screen credits include "Murder One," "The Day Lincoln Was Shot," "Star Trek: Insurrection," "Hack" and "The Last Debate."
Melissa Errico began her professional career portraying Cosette in Les Misérables, and she followed with leading roles in Anna Karenina, My Fair Lady, High Society, Amour, Dracula and the City Center Encores! productions of Call Me Madam and One Touch of Venus. She appeared in a production of Threepenny Opera at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Errico's recent Off-Broadway credits include Finian's Rainbow and Aunt Dan and Lemon. She also recently starred in the Hollywood Bowl presentation of Camelot. The Capitale Restaurant is located in Manhattan at 130 Bowery.
