Ibsen's play, to be presented in a new version by Zinnie Harris, begins performances May 14, prior to an official opening May 19, for a run to July 18. Kfir Yefet will direct, with designs by Anthony Ward, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, and music and sound design by Tim Phillips. "X-Files" star Anderson plays Nora.

In this new version by playwright, screenwriter and director Harris (whose original plays include Solstice, Midwinter, Fall and Further than the Furthest Thing), the action is set against the backdrop of British politics at the turn of the last century, in a world where duty, power and hypocrisy rule.

In the play, Nora loves her husband above all else. But when she risks her reputation in order to save his, she begins to question her devotion and finds herself fighting for her own life.

Anderson's theatre work in the U.K. includes What the Night is For (Comedy Theatre) and The Sweetest Swing in Baseball (Royal Court). Her television work includes "Bleak House" and "X-Files"; and for film, "The X-Files: I Want to Believe," "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People," "Boogie Woogie" and "The Last King of Scotland."

Eccleston plays Neil Kelman. He is best known on TV for being the ninth actor to play the title role in "Dr. Who," though he only did so for a single series, in 2005. His stage credits include Hamlet and Electricity (West Yorkshire Playhouse) and Miss Julie (Theatre Royal Haymarket). Stephens (who plays Thomas) has previously appeared at the Donmar in Pinter's Betrayal. On Broadway, he has starred in Ring Round the Moon for Lincoln Center Theatre; his London stage credits include productions of The Country Wife, The Royal Family and A Streetcar Named Desire (all at the Theatre Royal Haymarket), Hamlet and Coriolanus (for the RSC), Japes (West End and Mercury Theatre, Colchester) and Phèdre/Britannicus (Almeida at the Albery).

Fitzgerald plays Christine Lyle. She has appeared as Ophelia opposite Ralph Fiennes in Hamlet (London's Hackney Empire and subsequently on Broadway). Other theatre credits include And Then There Were None (Gielgud Theatre), A Streetcar Named Desire (Bristol Old Vic) and Antigone (Old Vic).

Anton Lesser plays Dr Rank. His theatre credits include The Vertical Hour (Royal Court), Julius Caesar (Barbican and tour), Cymbeline and Hamlet (both RSC), Private Lives, Mutabilitie, Wild Oats and The Birthday Party (all National Theatre) and Art (Wyndham's Theatre).

Maggie Wells plays Annie. Her theatre credits include work for Shakespeare's Globe, the Young Vic and Oxford Stage Company, and many productions with Mike Alfreds and Shared Experience.

Completing the cast, Leah Davies and Ted O'Neil, Abby Negus and William Nye play Nora and Thomas' twins. Emmy and Ivor on alternate evenings.

Director Kfir Yefet is making his Donmar debut with this production. He has previously directed Is That All There Is? (Almeida Theatre), Shimmer, Don't You Ever Call Me Anything But Mother (Mermaid Theatre) and The Soldier's Tale. His film "It's Not Unusual" won the BAFTA for Best Short Film.
