Presented by Electric Pear, the third annual Synesthesia features artists from the worlds of film, dance, comedy, music, spoken word, puppetry and chocolate, who create their own variations on a theme.
The origins of the work began in the fall 2008 when slam poet Aja Monet used the note within a fortune cookie to inspire her work. Monet then passed her artistic response onto the next artist, who interpreted it for himself, who passed it onto the next artist, and so on.
Running through Feb. 28, Synesthesia re-creates the artistic process of the participating artists through documentary footage and live performance.
Synesthesia features the work of Aja Monet, Harry Hancock, Piehole, Jessica Delfino, Kevin Colden, New Georges Theatre, Edward Rice, Dan Sharnoff, Juliana Trivers, Mast Brothers and Ljova.
Tickets, priced $18, are available by phoning (212) 352-3101 or by visiting ElectricPear. The Wild Project is located at 195 East Third Street.
