Elizabeth Marvel will replace Lili Taylor in the title role of Christopher Nixon's new translation of Jean Anouilh's Antigone set to play as part of Los Angeles Theatre Works' season, April 6-10.

Part of the radio theater series "The Play’s The Thing," the live performances at the Skirball Cultural Center will be recorded for future radio broadcast. Brendon Fox directs Antigone, Jean Anouilh's updated retelling of the Greek tragedy, which originally played in Paris during the Nazi occupation. Marvel is joined in the cast by Mandy Siegfried, Francis Guinan, Alley Mills, Jordan Bridges, Alan Mandell, Dominic Fumusa and John Hansen.

Actress Marvel recently appeared Off-Broadway in the New York Theatre Workshop revival of Hedda Gabler and Woody Allen's A Second-Hand Memory — as a replacement for Martha Plimpton. Other credits include An American Daughter, Alice in Bed, A Streetcar Named Desire and Lydie Breeze, Parts I & II as well as television appearances on "The District."

Upcoming performances in "The Play’s the Thing" series include Arthur Miller's The Ride Down Mt. Morgan with Marsha Mason (May 11-15), Nilo Cruz's Anna in the Tropics (June 15-19) and a play to be announced (July 13-17).

L.A.T.W.'s nationally syndicated radio show "The Play's The Thing" series is performed live at the Skirball Cultural Center. All performances are recorded for future broadcast to cities including Boston, Seattle, Santa Fe as well as on XM Satellite radio. The two-hour radio broadcasts include special backstage features and interviews with actors, playwrights, and directors. The L.A.
