Part of the company's "The Play's The Thing" radio theatre series, performances will run through June 17 at the Skirball Cultural Center. Shows are performed live and recorded for future broadcast. The run marks the Los Angeles premiere of the story of a mother of two living in Minneapolis who struggles with the memory of escaping the Cuban revolution when her only son enlists in the military after 9/11.

Peña ("La Bamba," "Resurrection Blvd.") plays the title role opposite Elizondo ("Chicago Hope," Sly Fox). Philip Casnoff, James Martinez, Rachel Nicks and Isabella Ortega also appear in the cast.

The 2006-07 "Voices from the Edge" season line-up will next feature Charles Busch's The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, starring JoBeth Williams and Richard Kind (May 16-20); and conclude with Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues (July 11-15).

LATW's nationally syndicated radio show "The Play's The Thing" series can be heard in cities across the country, including Boston, Seattle, Albuquerque as well as on XM Satellite radio. The two-hour radio broadcasts include special backstage features and interviews with actors, playwrights and directors. The L.A.
