Elizabeth Smart, a 15-year-old resident of Salt Lake City, was found alive in March after having gone missing for nine months. She was discovered in the company of a drifter, Brian David Mitchell, who called himself Emmanuel. Smart's father believed her daughter had been brainwashed and held against her will. In August, just five months after Elizabeth had been returned, filming began on a family-authorized two-hour television movie about the abduction. It aired on Nov. 9 on CBS. Right as Ron follows the homecoming of kidnapped April Starr. When producers come calling and the film starts rolling, however, the Starr clan proves to fall a little short of the all-American family ideal.
The cast includes Mark Auerbach, John Dohrman, Kathryn Ekblad, Susan-Kate Heaney, Jono Hustis, Carolyn Ladd, Yvonne Lin, Ben Lizza, Seth Michael May, John McAdams, Mike Mosley, Erica Rhodes and Jas Robertson.
